RJ was waiting to deliver a box of caps in a cancer treatment center when he observed a young dad with an infant and two rambuctious 3-4 year old boys (being boys). They came to the "Big City" so the doctors could give mommy "juice" to make her all better. Dad explained that they were both school teachers from a small town and a considerable distance to travel both directions in the same day, and the boys were already getting restless.
The looks on Dad's face told a story of fear and sadness. Mommy had been diagosed with cancer while pregnant. After the baby was born Mommy started treatment. Now eight months later Mommy was in for another round of "juice." This time was taking longer because Mommy was also having a CAT scan (A test to see if the bad germs were gone, explained the boys).
Finally the nurse came out and said Mommy would be out soon. The boys were very excited, however Dad did not look very hopeful. RJ offered caps and the boys chose pink, because it was Mommy's favorite color. Dad said "Last night in our prayers before bed, we asked God to let Mommy stay with us and not take her to heaven now." RJ reached into his box and pulled out four pink caps with the slogan "Heaven can wait" and gave one to each of the boys, Dad and little Emily.
Then the nurse came out with a very somber look on her face and said "I'll take that box of caps now."
The boys immediately sat down by Dad and whispered "Why is the nurse so mad, did we make too much noise?"
Before Dad could answer, the nurse, the doctor, and Mommy came into the waiting room. All of them in tears, and all wearing the same pink cap as the boys, Dad, and Emily; pink with the slogan "Heaven can wait." Mommy was in Remission!!! RJ got up to leave with tears in his eyes. One of the boys ran up and grabbed his hand and asked, "Are you God's helper? Mommy was aweful sick until the caps asked God to wait. Thank you!"
